What’s the Best Beer for the Summer?

There’s something extra special about a fresh beer on a hot summer’s day. When consumed outside after a long day, beer may just be the best thing about summer. Light, refreshing beers lend themselves well to the experience of enjoying a summertime brew. With that in mind, there’s only one question left to ask:
What is the best beer to brew for the summer?

Pilsners and Lagers

You can’t go wrong with pilsners and lagers to slow down and relax after a busy summer day. These beers are known for their crisp, dry flavour, and there’s something for everyone with the wide range of recipes from all over the world.

Cream Ales

Not everyone has the equipment, or the correct temperatures, to lager beer at home. That’s OK! Cream ales offer the perfect solution to your problem. There is nothing overpowering about cream ale, the hops and malt are barely detectable. What you’re left with is a smooth, easy-drinking beer that is sure to please a crowd.

Fruit Beers

Beer purists, please avert your eyes for a moment! Some camps believe that beer brewed with fruit ceases to be beer at all, because once the fruit is added to the mix, it becomes an abomination. Pumpkin ale may or may not fall into this category, depending on your perspective. One thing we do know is that there is no time like the summertime to enjoy a raspberry wheat or apricot ale!

Witbier

After Jean-Claude Van Damme, Witbier is the most famous thing ever to come out of Belgium. Wheat beer is pale, cloudy and incredibly refreshing. Its distinctive flavour comes from notes of citrus and or coriander, and it’s nothing short of delicious.

As you can see, there’s no shortage of contenders for the title of best beer for the summer. You’re just going to have to try them all to decide for yourself! Remember, it takes about 4-6 weeks to brew a batch of beer, so if you’re planning to brew something to enjoy this summer you’d better order your ingredients now!

And if you should feel the need to solicit the advice of some expert tasters to help you sample the finished product, we happen to know where you can find a few…
